Many of us grew up “playing church”—mimicking sermons, catching the spirit, learning how to perform. But what happens when performance no longer sustains you? In this powerful conversation, former pastor and coach for Black women, Dielle Charon, reveals how she left the pulpit to reclaim her voice, her worth, and her mission. If you’ve ever wrestled with letting go of what once defined you, this one’s for you.
Dielle’s love for ministry started early. “We had church in the living room,” she laughs. By 21, she was licensed and preaching for real. But with leadership came weight—expectations, silence, burnout. “The church made me a performer,” she admits. “I knew how to shout, how to cry, how to preach—but I was dying inside.”
The shift came during a quiet conversation with God. “I asked, ‘What if I don’t do this anymore?’” she remembers. “And God was like, ‘You’re good.’” It wasn’t rebellion—it was release.
Walking away meant grief. But it also meant freedom. Dielle stopped performing. She started healing.
Today, Dielle leads a thriving coaching practice helping Black women make aligned, abundant money. But her work is still ministry—it just doesn’t look like church.
“I don’t need a pulpit,” she says. “I coach with the same anointing, just without the religious guilt.” Her podcast, Women of Color Sales Show, and her program Everything Full Time are testimonies to what’s possible when Black women coach from wholeness, not hustle.
One of Dielle’s core messages is about pricing with power. “Black women always been doing ministry—we just weren’t getting paid,” she says. In her container, pricing isn’t just strategy. It’s spiritual. “You’re not just selling coaching. You’re reclaiming your birthright.”
Powerful Takeaway:
You don’t need a pulpit to preach. You don’t need titles to be called. If the thing that once gave you purpose now feels like a cage, you’re allowed to walk away—and build something sacred on your own terms.
